Why you love life in Punta Cana?

Yes, of course! There are so many reasons to live in Punta Cana. It is a blessing to get up every day, open the window, see the colors, the paradisiacal vegetation, the blue sky, and above all, enjoy the warm weather all year long. When I first moved here, I was struck by the beautiful weather, because it is hot, but still comfortable (the temperature average is 78 degrees) and the refreshing sea breeze always helps to keep the temperature pleasant.

As time has passed, I continue to be in awe of the beauty that surrounds me. I walk around surrounded by an eclectic mix of culture and scenery that simply cannot be described through words. You need to experience it for yourself. In Punta Cana, there are simply no bad days.

What can you tell us about the beaches?

Oh, the beaches are the best! With 31 miles of blue-green sea with fine white sand, Punta Cana has a stunning network of beaches. Some areas of the coast are considered national treasures because of the natural richness and abundance of sea life.

Among the most beautiful beaches are Cabeza de Toro, named for its geographical shape, Playa de Arena Gorda, Playa Bavaro, Playa Macao, El Cortecito, Cabo Engaño, Juanillo, and more.

In addition, Punta Cana grants access to additional oases. In the vicinity of this gorgeous city you can explore small villages such as Saona Island, which is known for its ideal reefs and coastal lagoons.

You mentioned the weather, can it really be that perfect?

Yes, it feels like summer all year round. The climate in Punta Cana is always warm, with beautiful sunshine during every season. The temperature averages around 78 degrees and reaches a maximum temperature of 89 degrees during the summer months. When it does rain, it usually only lasts for about 15 minutes at a time and dissipates quickly. Rainfall normally happens overnight, so it generally interrupt your plans for the day.

What about the people who live there and the culture?

So, in my opinion, Punta Cana is an ideal location for the whole family. The population is a community consisting of families, children, and seniors. It is populated by a diverse mix of native Dominicans and foreigners alike to create a beautiful melting pot of cultures and traditions. You will share your day-to-day activities with people from all over the world.

Punta Cana presents its residents with the unique opportunity to meet and befriend people from around the globe. The overall atmosphere is a friendly, welcoming one. You’ll find many family-friendly activities and a beautiful, safe oasis to raise your children and grandchildren.

What kind of food is available in Punta Cana?

In Punta Cana, you will find both 100% Creole dishes along with delicious cuisine combining foreign influences. If you want to try the local delicacies, which I think you should, you cannot miss the monfogo. It’s made with bananas and chicharrón, which is pork.

You must also order Bandera, which is named for its colors and flavor. It includes rice, beans, and flavorful meat. You will also find a wide variety of beautiful and tasty organic fruits and vegetables year round at the local markets.

What is the nightlife like?

It’s amazing! After spending the day between the palms on the beach, you can enjoy the sunset that ignites the nightlife throughout Punta Cana. At nightclubs such as Imagine and Legacy, you will find contagious music that keeps everyone on the dancefloor.

At Coco Bongo, enjoy incredible shows highlighting amazing talent and surprises that will be sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.

You can also try your luck at one of the many big casinos, usually found inside the immaculate hotel complexes. Beachside bars and restaurants also provide a laid-back atmosphere for those looking to relax.

How expensive is it to live there?

The cost of living is low. Punta Cana has the most affordable cost of living compared to any other area in the Caribbean. In Punta Cana, the quality of life and security are also far superior to any other part of the island. Fresh food is plentiful and affordable, along with housing, utilities, and services.

Does Punta Cana have an environment you can feel safe in?

Yes, you and your family will definitely feel safe here. The Dominican Republic is a very safe country with a low crime rate. Perhaps the most important thing to point out is the compassionate character of the people. Dominicans are known for being very warm, respectful, kind, and honest people. They welcome foreigners from all over the globe and treat them cordially. In Punta Cana, you will always find friendly faces willing to help you with whatever you need.

What are travel conditions like for visitors and vacationers?

Punta Cana International Airport sees the highest traffic in the Domincan Republic, after the airport of the capital city in Santo Domingo. Punta Cana’s airport welcomes international flights from all over the world and has introduced new security measures to make the customs process a breeze for Americans and Canadians.

New roads and highways are also under continuous construction to make traveling throughout the country easier and faster than ever.

Well, so what do you think about the economy in Punta Cana?

The economic development in Punta Cana is undoubtedly the fastest growing in the entire country, offering the government generous tax incentive packages. There are great opportunities in all sectors of business, making it a wonderful time to invest.

There is legislation that provides a 15-year exemption on all income tax, corporation tax, VAT, municipal taxes, export taxes and duties. The best part is you don’t need to own a large corporation to take advantage of these great incentives.

So, how easy was the process of moving there?

It was easy to obtain residency. The Dominican government is very welcoming to foreign retirees. If you can show $1,500 of monthly pension, plus $250 for each person you are bringing with you, you may qualify for temporary residence in just 45 days.

As with foreign residency programs in other countries, Dominican residency comes with various advantages including tax exemptions and other lucrative benefits.

If you are not a retiree, foreigners can also obtain migration status in the Dominican Republic quite easily. Migration status can be claimed for many reasons including reunification, employment contracts, investments, etc.
