For many of us, when making the decision to move internationally, our first concern is our children and our family. Everyone would love the opportunity to move to a tropical location, however, it is imperative to know that your family will be safe and happy in their new environment.
Is Dominican Republic good for families?
When I first came to Punta Cana, I never imagined it would be an ideal place to raise children. However, a few weeks after arriving in this paradise, my 3-year-old daughter made friends with many different children from different nationalities. Thanks to her, we became friends with their parents as well. I wholeheartedly believe that Punta Cana is a wonderful place to raise a family and have made a list of my top reasons why.
Why is Punta Cana the best option to life with your family?
Safety
Is Punta Cana safe? The Dominican Republic is a very safe country and Punta Cana has an incredibly low crime rate. As parents, we worry about our children from the day they are born. However, I rest easy knowing that my children are safe to ride their bike around the neighborhood or meet their friends at the park and they will always come home safe and sound. We live in a community that takes care of each other and watches out for one another. Not only do I look out for my kids, but in Punta Cana, I know I have an entire community watching over them as well.
Clean Eating
As we all know, a healthy diet is extremely important for growing children. In the Dominican Republic we have unlimited access to organic meat, fruits and vegetables—all at affordable prices. Organic foods tend to be quite expensive in the United States and other countries. In the Dominican Republic you will find small vendors that sell produce straight from their farms and you can also find fresh ingredients in the supermarkets. For those who miss the tastes of home, grocers also offer a wide variety of international foods and ingredients. Your kids will receive all of the nutrients they need from the wide variety of unprocessed, healthy, organic foods available throughout the island.
Diversity
Living in Punta Cana will also expose your children to diversity unlike any other place in the world. The Dominican Republic is a beautiful melting pot of cultures and backgrounds that welcomes expats from all over the globe. Your children will have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and nationalities first-hand and they will be exposed to people and experiences they may never have encountered otherwise. The greatest lessons are learned from people that are different from ourselves and the Dominican Republic offers a great opportunity to take advantage of it.
Outdoor activities
Life in the Dominican Republic is relaxed and simple. The weather is always favorable and kids have the opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports year-round, along with going to the beach, visiting parks, swimming, bike riding, hiking, etc. The simplicity of life and abundance of outdoor activities allows our kids to step back from electronics and technology and experience the world around them. They will be more active and healthier—both physically and mentally—as a result.
Competitive schools
Punta Cana offers educational programs ranging from preschool to Universities with international curriculum. Bilingual teachers and instructors are recruited from all over the world. In most schools, the curriculum is taught in English and Spanish is a secondary language. Being bi-lingual is such an important proficiency in today’s society, which allows our children to better communicate with the world as a result. Schools in Punta Cana are known for small class sizes and focused, high-quality education.
Best of both worlds
In Punta Cana you can enjoy the best of both worlds: a beautiful island oasis and a safe, productive environment to raise your family. From the cultured schools to the abundance of outdoor activities and healthy foods, Punta Cana is an exceptional place to raise your children and watch them thrive.
